Erguna River, called by Mongolian
people the Mother River, is the birthplace of Mongolian ethnic group.
She witnessed Mongolia growing and expending. At the beginning of
13th century, Genghis Khan stood by this beautiful river and pledged
to the blue sky and boundless earth. Starting from here with his mighty
troops, he conquered Asia-Europe continent, and built Mongolia Empire.
Because of this connection with Mongolian hero Genghis Khan, this
amazing river earned an important position in Mongolian people¡¯s hearts.
In 2001, six sunny
and strong Mongolian boys, who were born in Inner Mongolian grassland
and grew up on horses back, formed a band called ERGUNA. They are,
Hu Si Leng (lead vocal), Na Ri Su (guitar and vocal), Bao Yu Min
(lead guitar), Ma Xi Ba Tu (bass), Wang Meng (drums) and Si Ri Gu
Leng (keyboard). They all have Mongolian hot blood and music nature.
With desire of pursuing their music dreams and inheritance of Mongolian
culture, they sang all the way from Mongolia to a shining stage
of the world. The music of Erguna band has heroic and strong characters
of Mongolian ethnic group, melodies are powerful and beautiful.
Besides their own compositions, they also rearrange Mongolian traditional
songs. Most of their music works are about beautiful grass lands
and Mongolian¡¯s life. In modern music, they put a lot of traditional
music elements, and blend them seamlessly. Band members are good
at western musical instruments, and many Mongolian traditional instruments
as well, such as Horse-head Bow, Si Hu, Hobis, Bamboo Flute, and
they also command the special Mongolian throat technique ¨C Hoomi.
After explorations, Erguan band found a best way to express themselves
in the conversation between modern music and old traditional culture.
They gave new meanings to the folk music and brought fresh breaths
to the traditional culture.
Erguna is not only a river¡¯s
name, it represent a glory era of history. Took name from the Mother
River of Mongolia, Erguna band got heroic lights around them from
first day they emerged. They will start New Folk Song movement in
China.
